52nd Street Planetary Ensemble - Shape-shifting improvisatory collective

In January 2023, I started a weekly open session for improvised music at the Rotunda in University City, Philadelphia. The concept was simple: for two hours every week, the space was open for musical encounters. Whoever showed up found a way to play together, no matter what the instruments, backgrounds, and skill levels. Three and a half years later, the sessions are still going strong.
