I am a writer, educator, and musical curator. Through a variety of activities, I create opportunities for people to deepen their listening experience by exploring new forms of musical expression and discovering connections between sound, science, and spirituality.
My work centers primarily on the experimental and electronic traditions in music since 1900. Some other areas of interest include the history of aesthetics and compositional technique, creative approaches to music education, and the interface between music and technology in the development of musical instruments.
I've studied at New College of Florida (BA, 2004), the University of Cologne (Fulbright Scholarship, 2005-2006), and at the University of Pennsylvania (PhD, 2013).
I currently live in Philadelphia with my wife, son, and two cats. On this site you can learn about my work, check out some of my projects, and get in touch with me. Thanks for visiting!
